Agatha Christie Miss Marple Mystery Collection

Margaret Rutherford emerged as a marquee name internationally in 1961 in this series of screen adaptations of Agatha Christie’s work from MGM. All were predicated upon the notion that the geriatric population of England, as embodied by Rutherford’s Miss Jane Marple and her friends, such as Mr. Stringer (Stringer Davis, Rutherford’s real-life spouse), were its greatest and most interesting resource, with things still to teach the younger generation of adults coming up behind them. The Agatha Christie Miss Marple Collection is a nicely put together if unambitious set of four feature films

Murder, She Said (1961)

Paddington Station…next stop…murder!

Dozing in her train seat, elderly English gentlewoman Miss Jane Marple awakens just in time to witness a dreadful strangulation aboard a passing train. “Murder,” cries Miss Marple. “You were dreaming,” the police reply. Undaunted, Miss Marple sets out to uncover the truth, even if it means uncovering an extra body or two!

Murder at the Gallop (1963)

The old and wealthy Mr. Enderby dies of a heart attack but the ever suspicious Miss Marple has her doubts. Who or what gave him a heart attack? Enderby’s poor relatives gather at the The Gallop, a combined boarding-house and riding school. Miss Marple also gets there to find out if any of them had any particular reasons to see him dead.

Murder Most Foul (1964)

Although the evidence appears to be overwhelming in the strangulation murder of a blackmailer, Miss Marple’s sole ‘not guilty’ vote hangs the jury 11-1. She becomes convinced that the real murderer is a member of a local theatrical troupe, so she joins them in order to gather information. The clues lead back many years to a single disastrously unsuccessful 1951 performance of a dreadful play written by the group’s hammy director, H. Driffold Cosgood. Although at that time, several of the current cast members were only children, more murders follow before Miss Marple ultimately exposes the killer.

Shipping Note

Since the never-ending rise of postal rates the last year, I can and will still ship free; however, I will be using USPS First Class only – in other words, no tracking for single DVD orders. First Class is extremely reliable and rarely has problems within the continental United States. I’ve talked with my postal carrier at great length and he recommended it for savings on my enormous postage costs. It’s either this, or raise my prices, which I’m trying not to do.

THAT SAID! 😉 On orders of 2 or more DVDs, I WILL be purchasing tracking. Just the single DVD packages will be void of a tracking number. I know the majority of my buyers will understand. If you’re a new visitor and not comfortable with this, you could go to the Bonanza Mayda Mart Booth and see if I have what you want listed there. Thank you!
