Description
Column South 1953 Audie Murphy Western
Stars: Audie Murphy, Joan Evans, Robert Sterling
Column South involves Jed Sayre (Murphy), friend to local Navajo Indians at Fort Union. Jed relinquishes his command of Fort Union to Captain Lee Whitlock. Whitlock demands changes to the running of the fort and expects Jed to end his friendship with the Navajo. When a prospector is discovered murdered, it is presumed the Navajo are guilty. This sets the wheels in motion for Jed to try to quell impending war with the Indians. In the mix is the impending Civil War with deserters, traitors and political shenanigans at HQ. Jed and Marcy dance around the inevitable love-hate relationship.
Robert Sterling is good as the Fort Commander, with good support from Ray Collins, Greg Palmer and Joan Evans. Dennis Weaver does very well as the Indian chief with his motley Hollywood tribe. Audie Murphy, star of Column South, is reliable as always.
Tagline: Audie and the U.S. cavalry defeat the enemy.
