General Died at Dawn DVD 1936 Gary Cooper Adventure Black & White NR
Stars of The General Died at Dawn: Gary Cooper, Madeleine Carroll, Akim Tamiroff
In revolution-torn China, American mercenary O’Hara is entrusted with a perilous mission, to get arms for the helpless authorities in a province ravaged by warlord General Yang. On the train to Shanghai, he meets Judy Perrie, whose father is in league with General Yang. Will Judy regret agreeing to lure O’Hara to his doom, and if so, can she make it up to him? The balance of power seesaws to a perilous conclusion.
Thanks to the cast of characters in here, led by the wise-cracking Gary Cooper and a pretty Madeline Carroll, this was a pretty interesting film. Some of the minor characters also made this movie to fun, notably Akim Tamiroff’s “General Yang,” as well as Bill Frawley”s “Brighton;” Porter Hall’s “Peter Prrie/Peter Martin” and Dudley Digges’ creepy busybody “Mr. Wu.”

Note to Buyers
Mayda Mart movies consist of mostly American films made before 1964. These carefully researched films have been considered to be in the public domain in the USA for many years. Why is a film in the public domain? Briefly, films fall into the public domain because they were never properly registered with the Library of Congress in the first place or were not renewed as required by the prevailing copyright laws at the time. This movie has been researched and found to be in the public domain in the U.S. because the copyright has either expired and is no longer valid or the film was not copyrighted at all. Researched first with the United States Copyright Office Public Catalog as well as other public domain resources.
