Enter Rex Shepherd, private eye, who snacks on dog food, and his sweet-talking secretary Goldie, a former race horse. But is Rex barking up the wrong tree? Many dog and horse jokes.
This movie is everything a good movie should be! There are tear jerkers, gags, action, and it is fairly fast moving and loads of fun.
Speaking of lots of fun, check out the movie, Christmas in July, also starring Dick Powell. It’s a fun comedy-romance you’ll enjoy year ’round!
Did you know?
According to an April 6, 1951 Variety news item, Bert Granville, an actor who portrayed animals for twenty-five years in vaudeville and on the radio, coached Dick Powell on how to act like a dog. HCN reported on June 30th, 1951 that Breslow previewed the film before ten married couples, culled from lists given to him by ministers, a rabbi and a priest. This was apparently meant to test their reactions to the afterlife subplot. Source: AFI Catalog
