Sport Parade DVD 1932 Joel McCrea Marian Marsh Drama NR Black and White
Stars of Sport Parade: Joel McCrea, Marian Marsh, William Gargan
In The Sport Parade, Dartmouth football stars Sandy Brown and Johnny Baker follow different paths after college: Baker becomes a sports reporter while pal Brown chases the money of the pro game, but ends up as a wrestler with big debts. Irene Stewart is the woman that comes between them, and a bored radio announcer adds the few light moments as he follows their careers.
This is a pre-Code sports movie mostly famous for a specific locker room scene. That said, it is interesting to watch for the sports footage of the day. The frequent appearance of Robert Benchley as a drunk and confused radio announcer is quite amusing, and of course Joel McCrea is looking fantastic in his beefcake days – all 6’2-inches of him!
Trivia: This movie had two other working titles: Sports Pages and Free, White and Twenty-One. The latter references a common expression used for over a century.

Note to Buyers
Mayda Mart movies consist of mostly American films made before 1964. These carefully researched films have been considered to be in the public domain in the USA for many years. Why is a film in the public domain? Briefly, films fall into the public domain because they were never properly registered with the Library of Congress in the first place or were not renewed as required by the prevailing copyright laws at the time. This movie has been researched and found to be in the public domain in the U.S. because the copyright has either expired and is no longer valid or the film was not copyrighted at all. Researched first with the United States Copyright Office Public Catalog as well as other public domain resources.
