Did you know?

Thunder Bay is the first of two 1950’s adventure films with heroes called Steve Martin. The second was Godzilla with Raymond Burr. Shot on location in Morgan City, Louisiana in rich Technicolor, this was Jimmy Stewart’s first non-western with Anthony Mann. Although easily the least known of their eight films together remains fun.

You may also enjoy the James Stewart-Anthony Mann 5-Disk DVD Set. In the 1950’s, James Stewart starred in a number of Westerns that cast him as a morally ambiguous loner. His persona was that of a man with a dark past and questionable motives. His work with director Anthony Mann during this time forever altered his public persona. The movies in this set are Winchester ’73 (1950), Bend in the River (1952), Thunder Bay (1953), The Far Country (1954)  and The Man From Laramie (1955).
