Tobor the Great 1954 Charles Drake Sci-Fi
Stars: Charles Drake, Karin Booth, Billy Chapin
Tobor the Great Story Line. Thinly-disguised NASA, working with nuclear rockets, is ready for manned flights in the mid-fifties. Dr. Ralph Harrison doesn’t think so, and resigns in protest. Colleague Professor Nordstrom promptly enlists his aid in developing an alternative. This alternative option is a robotic spaceman! Naturally, foreign spies are keenly interested in this new development from NASA.
Tobor the Great is a lightly amusing and engaging sci-fi flick, which could well be described as the tale of “a boy and his robot“. People such as Dr. Ralph Harrison and the eminent Professor Arnold Nordstrom don’t believe that human beings should be subjected to the unknown perils of space travel. So Nordstrom feels he hit upon the answer with a robot. One designed to be a sentient being that people can communicate with telepathically. When enemy agents kidnap Nordstrom and his grandson to force the old man to divulge his secrets, Tobor swings into action.
Tagline: Man-Made monster with every human emotion!
